Bois D’Arc United Methodist is my church for several reasons. Rick Warren says that the five purposes of a Christian is to worship God, become more Christlike, love others, serve others, and tell others. I believe Bois D’Arc Methodist does all of these things very well.
The people truly are very loving, caring, giving, and always trying to help and serve not only the members of the church, but other people outside the church as well. Additionally, the people are very open minded. Anyone and everyone no matter their background is welcome at our church. The qualities are very important to me because I believe one of our main purposes as Christians is to help people in need.
Bois D’Arc is my church because it has allowed me to become involved in the leadership and teaching roles of the church. This has been a blessing to me because I have learned much about the Bible and Jesus’s teachings and what it means to be a Christian. This in turn has made my faith grow stronger. I cannot imagine not attending church every Sunday because it recharges me and prepares me for the week ahead and the storms that life throws at you.
Bois D’arc is my church also because of our pastor Reverend Kim Polchow. Her love of the Lord and the Lords children is very obvious. Reverend Kim is a great communicator and her sermons are very inspiring. She is extremely knowledgeable of the Bible and United Methodists beliefs and is a great teacher. She has taught me many things that has deepened my faith and helped me to better understand my faith. She also is responsible for convincing my grown children and their families to come back to church and to attend regularly.
