for Adults

Sunday School

Three adult Sunday School classes are held each Sunday morning between worship services.

  • Wesleyan meets in the Conference Room of the church, the first door on your right as you enter the Fellowship Hall. It is supposed to be our class for mature adults, but they laugh harder than any group in the church! Discussion can get lively. Members are generally 60+. They use a classic quarterly material and a rotation teaching model. Quarterlies are available in both regular and large print. They go out to eat after the 11 AM service on every second Sunday of the month.
  • New Covenant meets in a classroom in the Education building (enter the building, take your first right, and the classroom is the last door on the left). New Covenant class members are generally in their 50s and 60s. The class is taught by our Lay Leader, Steve Floyd. He teaches well-constructed lessons from books he’s reading about the Bible or religious studies. First-time visitors to the class often remark that the lessons in this class are extremely well-prepared.
  • New Horizons Class meets in a classroom off the front of the Sanctuary (as you’re facing the pulpit, take a left around the piano). New Horizons class members are generally in their 30s-50s. The class uses a rotation teaching model. They work through popular Christian books or video series, and usually center their discussion around life application. This class deals with a wide variety of opinions on topics, and debate can be both lively and insightful.

Other Adult Ministries

The United Methodist Women meet monthly on the Third Wednesday of the month for fellowship, learning, and mission planning Our UMW focuses on church and community projects. They provide for church members in times of need. They are especially appreciated during times of loss, when their funeral meals, cards, and flowers provide a reminder to grieving families that they are loved and remembered. The UMW also has a lot of fun. Each year, they host a Ladies Night Out for all the women of the church.

The Knitwits have so much personality, we gave them their own page written by one of their members. Click here to learn more about this lively group.

The SeniorRitas is a unique ministry within our church. It is most fun group of people you can ever enter through tragedy. It started as a fellowship group for the widows of our church. The membership remains open only to widows, but it is not a tearful support group. Well, there are tears, but they are usually tears of mirth. This group has been a great source of fun and adventure for its members. On the last Friday night of each month, the ‘Ritas arrive at one of the coordinator’s houses for a party, game night, movie night, excursion, or cookout. These are do-not-miss events for the members. The coordinators (Jerry and Susie Mason, Dan and Ginger Ellsworth) do a great job planning the fun events and mail out invitation letters each month to the members. They do an especially good job of reaching out to new widows.

OWN is a small group of women that meets once a month (hence the name, One Wednesday Night) for fellowship, snacks, and fun. We often have a theme for the meeting and sometimes work together to learn a DIY project. Recent meetings include using chalk paint to restore furniture, basic upholstery, and essential oils. This group meets on the second Wednesday night of the month in various homes of the members. Please speak with Anne Keller if you’re interested in joining this fun group.
